The Grove Public House

The Grove stands empty, slowly rotting away. It has stood empty for some years. Plans were submitted in 2018 to revamp the building, keeping it a pub downstairs and student flats above. Planning permission was turned down and so the pub stands derelict. The original bar, beer pumps and all, still persists but the only drinkers are the ghosts of pasts patrons.

The building is worthy of saving but there is talk of demolition.

There is a housing shortage though more student accommodation won’t solve this. Perhaps affordable flats for local people could be this building’s saviour with a ground floor pub or restaurant for good measure.
