The Ground Beneath Your Feet

Daphnis is with his flock on the hills above Cefalù. He cannot see. He navigates by sound and touch. He hears pipes playing. Recognises the tone, the player. The tune is foot crushed thyme, cicadas and distant goat bells. This is Pan. The hillside itself. The tree beside you, the ground beneath your feet.

  1. the man shifting up to make room in the bus shelter, off-season rain. everyone photographs the sea and the rock above Cefalu; that small shift is where the town actually is. i make woodblock prints of places people walk past without looking, and that is one i would have walked past. thank you for putting it somewhere i could see it.
