‘The Cat That Loved Strawberries’

The cat that loved strawberries loved allotments too. She would visit the allotments everyday in summer and eat her fill of ripe strawberries. She was, at the start of summer, a boringly beautiful tabby cat but day by day, strawberry by strawberry her fur turned a little pinker until by the end of the second week of Wimbledon she was a perfectly red cat. A strawberry cat. From then on and to the end of her very happy life she was lovingly referred to as Strawberry the Cat. Even the allotment holders came to love her and every year all through the strawberry season they’d leave a few ripe strawberries out for her which kept her colour topped up until the next year. Her kittens too loved strawberries. Maybe you’ve seen one of them down your way. If not then keep your eyes peeled, especially around the strawberry patch.
